Direct Daylight Systems

Connected at one end to a Dome Light on the roof, the shiny surface bounces daylight down the tube and delivers it to a diffuser panel mounted in the ceiling of the unlit area. Whilst it’s direct effect is to eliminate the cost of using artificial light during daylight hours, natural light encourages a feeling of well-being and makes dark, enclosed spaces seem less claustrophobic. WHERE WILL IT FIT? The dome, tube and diffuser should be fitted between existing joists. On houses built to current standards, the joists are 600mm apart and should accept the 500mm diameter size Direct Daylight system without difficulty. Buildings prior to the present standards may have joists that are closer together, in which case the 350mm diameter Direct Daylight system should be suitable. Whilst for optimum light transmission thediffuser should be installed directly under the dome, problems with this alignment due to the roofs construction can be overcome by simply bending the unique Direct daylight flexible tube around the obstruction. Double Glazed Roof Dome - For applications where there is living space immediately below the roof, a Double Glazed Dome can be supplied as a replacement for the single glazed standard dome. Vented Diffuser & Dome - For areas that can become uncomfortably warm, the Direct Daylight diffuser and it’s dome can be supplied as vented models that allow hot air at ceiling level to escape naturally into the atmosphere, via the tube. Please note that the venting process should not be fan-assisted, as the grime in a forced air flow will corrupt the mirror finish inside the tube. Eclipse Light Shade - Direct Daylight systems are so efficient that on installations, where the high summer sun can shine directly down the tube, the light coming from the diffuser can be too bright for comfort. If this is likely, a Light Shade that consists of a set of pull cord operated louvres, should be fitted into the tube just above the diffuser. Electric Light - Small ceilings that are fitted with both a Direct Daylight unit and a separate electric light, can look cluttered and utilitarian. For a clean and neat appearance, the diffuser can be supplied with an integral light fitting so that day and night time lighting all come from the same source. 6 Metre Tube - To extend the distance of the diffuser from the roof dome. The following products are optional extras, when you buy one of these the original item from the standard set is replaced with the upgrade.
